Emergency crews pulled a man from Shawnee Mission Park Lake in Lenexa on Wednesday evening, Oct. 14.
The Lenexa Fire Department, Johnson County Med-Act and Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) Parks Police responded to the lake around 5:40 p.m., news stringer Mike Frizzell reported on X.
A JCPRD Parks Police sergeant told Frizzell the incident was a "medical call" but did not elaborate.
A witness at the scene told Frizzell that Parks Police launched a boat and pulled a man from the water.
Frizzell reported that the man was transported to a hospital in critical condition shortly before 6:30 p.m. His account cited radio traffic indicating the man was in his 60s and had been found sitting in the water. Neither the Lenexa Fire Department nor Johnson County Med-Act has issued a public statement about the incident.
