Johnson County voters can cast ballots starting Saturday, Oct. 17, at any of 12 advance voting locations across the county.

Six of those sites sit in or near the Olathe area:

  • Johnson County Election Office, 2101 E. Kansas City Rd., Olathe
  • Olathe Indian Creek Library, 16100 W. 135th St., Olathe
  • Lenexa City Center Library, 8778 Penrose Ln., Lenexa
  • De Soto Community Center, 32905 W. 84th St., De Soto
  • Spring Hill Civic Center, 401 N. Madison St., Spring Hill
  • New Century Fieldhouse, 551 New Century Pkwy., Gardner

All 12 locations will keep the same hours: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, according to the Johnson County Election Office. The final day of early voting is Monday, Nov. 2, when sites will be open 8 a.m. to noon. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Registered voters are not assigned to a specific early voting site. Any Johnson County voter can walk into any of the 12 locations, according to The Kansas City Star.

Kansas requires a photo ID to vote, the Star reported. Acceptable forms include a driver's license, passport, military ID, employee badge or nondriver ID card. No application or excuse is needed to vote early in person.

Johnson County Election Commissioner Connie Schmidt told Fox 4 Kansas City on Monday, Oct. 12, that her office is planning for unusually high turnout. "We're projecting for our planning purposes presidential type turnout because of the national media attention that's in the U.S. Senate race," Schmidt said.

The county had approximately 475,000 registered voters as of Oct. 6, according to KCTV5.

The Election Office must receive the application by Tuesday, Oct. 27. Completed mail ballots can be returned to any advance voting location during voting hours, any Election Day polling place or a 24-hour drop box.

The remaining six advance voting sites are in Mission, Overland Park, Shawnee and other parts of the county. A full list is available at the Johnson County Election Office website.
