Lenexa residents can drop off gently used coats and jackets at six locations across the city starting Oct. 1 through Oct. 23.

The citywide coat drive, organized by the We Care Committee, an employee-led group within Lenexa city government, will send all donations to the Shawnee Mission Area Council Clothing Exchange, according to the city's announcement. That program provides free clothing and shoes to families within the Shawnee Mission School District boundaries.

Donors should bring clean coats in good condition with working zippers and buttons.

  • Lenexa City Hall, 17101 W. 87th St. Pkwy.
  • Lenexa Rec Center, 17201 W. 87th St. Pkwy.
  • Municipal Services Service Center, 7700 Cottonwood St.
  • Lenexa Old Town Activity Center, 9301 Pflumm Rd.
  • Lenexa Justice Center, 17371 Prairie Star Pkwy.

The Shawnee Mission Area Council Clothing Exchange operates at 6701 W. 83rd St. in Overland Park and is open to all residents within the school district's boundaries, according to the SMAC PTA.
