Lenexa is hosting a Beginner Jigsaw Puzzle Tournament on Oct. 18, inviting teams of up to four to race through a 300-piece puzzle at the Old Town Activity Center.
The City of Lenexa announced on X that the tournament runs from 1 to 3 p.m. at the center, 9301 Pflumm Rd. Every team gets the same 300-piece puzzle and two hours to complete it. First- and second-place prizes will be awarded.
Registration costs $40 per team. The deadline to sign up is Oct. 15.
The city described the tournament as family-friendly and geared toward beginners. Its post included a photo of a group of four working on a puzzle at a table with a sign reading "The Titans."
Lenexa calls itself the "City of Festivals" and regularly fills its calendar with community events. According to the city's website, Lenexa Parks & Recreation's major festivals draw crowds of more than 7,000 people each.
The puzzle tournament offers a smaller-scale alternative. Teams will work side by side in the activity center's main room, racing the clock and each other.
