MidAmerica Nazarene scored 34 unanswered points to pull away from Clarke University 58-17 on Saturday, Sept. 19, in Dubuque, Iowa.

Quarterback Spensar Sieger accounted for five touchdowns, and the Pioneers (3-1) piled up 557 total yards to overwhelm the winless Pride (0-4), according to MNU's athletics department.

Sieger completed 16 passes for 246 yards and four touchdowns. He added a 29-yard scoring run and finished with 70 yards on the ground. He threw one interception.

Wide receiver Zane Hall finished with seven catches for 167 yards and two scores, including a 53-yard touchdown in the second quarter. His first touchdown, a 24-yard grab, came in the opening quarter.

Just before halftime, defensive back Daquan Smith picked off a Clarke pass and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown, pushing MNU's lead to 34-17 at the break. Smith also led the defense with eight tackles and a tackle for loss.

Clarke never scored again.

MNU added 24 points in the second half. Isaiah Coppage caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Sieger in the third quarter. AJ Johnson punched in a 20-yard rushing score in the fourth. Kicker Luke Hardman drilled field goals of 37, 39 and 45 yards and went 7-for-7 on extra points.

Hunter Roddy contributed on both sides of the ball, catching three passes for 35 yards and a 27-yard first-quarter touchdown while adding 56 rushing yards. Running back Sherman Smith chipped in 64 yards on the ground at 10.7 yards per carry.

On defense, Kevin McCuin recorded six tackles, a tackle for loss and a sack. Matthew Potucek added six tackles.

MNU racked up 292 rushing yards and 265 passing yards against Clarke's 405 total yards.

The Pioneers return home Saturday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. to face Grand View University at Copeland Athletic Complex in Olathe. MNU hosts Central Methodist University on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m.
