Olathe South's girls flag football team routed crosstown rival Olathe Northwest 32-0 on Sept. 7.

The Falcons led 12-0 at halftime, stretched the margin to 24-0 by the end of the third quarter and added eight more in the fourth, according to score updates posted on X by AD Miller, Olathe South's athletic director and assistant principal.

The turnaround came in just the second week of Kansas' inaugural girls flag football season. The Kansas State High School Activities Association sanctioned the sport in April, making Kansas the 18th state to do so, according to the Johnson County Post.

Olathe South also lost 28-0 to Shawnee Mission South on Sept. 2. Olathe Northwest's program is led by inaugural head coach Shawn Lopez, whose hiring the school announced in July.
