The Olathe West Owls carry a 1-1 record into the Sept. 18 rivalry game at Olathe Northwest, looking to avenge a playoff loss that ended their 2025 season.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the College Boulevard Activity Center. Both teams enter the game at 1-1.
The Owls opened the season with a 52-7 home win over Shawnee Mission South, then fell to Blue Valley 38-14 on Thursday, Sept. 10. The two-game stretch introduced a roster full of new contributors after a 9-2 campaign last fall.
Week 1: Owls roll past Shawnee Mission South
Junior quarterback Andre Day Jr. made his first varsity start and settled in after an opening quarter that saw two turnovers on each side. Day finished with 99 passing yards, one passing touchdown and 46 rushing yards, according to the Owl Post, the school's student newspaper.
Senior running back Cruze Maslak powered the ground game with 160 yards and a touchdown. The Owls piled up 364 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns overall. Seniors Brett Hamm and Cash Warren scored, along with junior Christian Rodgers, who found the end zone twice, and sophomore Dean Rasmussen.
The defense forced four turnovers. Seniors Wyatt Benton and Cash Warren came up with a fumble recovery and an interception on Shawnee Mission South's first two drives. Sophomores Reed Peterson and Max Bray each recovered fumbles later.
The Owl Post reported the final score as 52-7. The Kansas City Star's scoreboard listed the result as 52-14.
Week 2: Blue Valley's passing attack overwhelms Owls
Blue Valley's spread offense threw for 395 yards against the Owls secondary in a 38-14 win on Sept. 10, KCTV5 confirmed.
Warren provided both Olathe West scores. He returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and added a 23-yard rushing score.
Warren, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound senior linebacker, committed in July to play college football at Northwest Missouri State University, according to JoCo Today.
Sept. 18: Owls and Ravens meet in rivalry rematch
The Owls and Ravens last met Nov. 14, 2025, in the KSHSAA 6A playoffs. Olathe Northwest won 34-21 and advanced to the state final four, according to MaxPreps.
Olathe Northwest opened 2026 with a 27-0 shutout of Olathe South on Sept. 4 before falling 40-34 to Blue Valley Northwest on Sept. 11.
The Sept. 18 game at CBAC kicks off at 7 p.m.
