Johnson County's two motor vehicle offices will close Monday, Oct. 12, for annual staff training.
The closure affects the Olathe Motor Vehicle office at 782 N. Ridgeview Rd. and the Mission Motor Vehicle office at 6000 Lamar Ave., Suite 100, according to Johnson County. Both offices handle vehicle registrations, titles and tag renewals. They will reopen Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Residents who need to renew before Oct. 13 have two options. Online renewals are available at ikan.ks.gov with an eCheck or credit card. A convenience fee applies. Renewals require a PIN printed on the registration renewal notice, and vehicles without a PIN cannot use the online system. The registration decal arrives in five to seven business days.
Not all vehicles qualify for online renewal. Trailers, RVs and vehicles without current proof of insurance on file must be renewed by mail or in person, according to the county's renewal page.
To renew by mail, send the renewal stub, proof of insurance and payment by check, money order or cashier's check to Johnson County Motor Vehicle, P.O. Box 950558, St. Louis, MO 63195-0558. No cash. Allow seven to 10 business days for delivery.
Driver's license offices are not operated by Johnson County and will remain open Oct. 12. Other county offices at 111 S. Cherry St., Suite 1200, including Treasury, Taxation, County Clerk and County Recording, will also stay open Oct. 12.
