Fans heading to Olathe high school games won't be able to pay in cash.

All athletic events across Olathe's five high schools have switched to cashless ticket sales, Olathe East Athletics announced on X on Monday, Sept. 28. The change covers home games at Olathe North, Olathe East, Olathe South, Olathe Northwest and Olathe West.

Tickets are available in advance through the Bound platform or can be purchased at the gate. The announcement did not specify whether gate purchases require a card or digital payment, only that cash will no longer be accepted. It also did not state when the policy takes effect, leaving it unclear whether the switch applies to games already on the fall schedule or begins at a later date.

Bound is a school activities platform that handles ticketing, registration, scheduling, facilities and concessions for districts across Kansas. The platform's mobile app lets fans buy tickets and add them to Apple or Google Wallet, using a single QR code as the entry pass.

Matt Johnson, the Olathe School District's director of athletics, activities and student transportation, appears on Bound's website with his district title, indicating the district's existing relationship with the platform. No district-level statement specifically about the cashless switch has been released publicly, and the Sept. 28 announcement came only from Olathe East's athletic account. None of the other four schools' accounts had posted a similar notice as of Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Olathe is not the only district in the region using Bound. The Sunflower League, Western Athletic Conference, Eastern Kansas League and Wichita City League have all adopted the platform, according to Derby Public Schools.

Olathe East had already begun steering fans toward Bound earlier this fall, promoting an All Sports Pass for the 2026-27 school year on Aug. 5.

The schools' athletic departments have directed fans to the Bound platform for ticket purchases. Specific game schedules and ticket links are available through each school's athletic social media accounts.
