Lenexa families looking for a free way to kick off fall can head to Rolling Magic Skate Park on Sept. 19 for the city's annual Skate Jam.

The event runs from 4 to 6 p.m. and features a live DJ, food trucks and a helmet giveaway, according to the city's event page. Admission is free. The city says all ages and skill levels are welcome.

Rolling Magic Skate Park sits inside Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park at 8801 Greenway Ln. in Lenexa. The park opened in September 2023 as a modern replacement for one of the first generation of concrete skate facilities built in Kansas. New Line Skateparks, the firm that designed the current layout, describes it as featuring an "expansive flow bowl" and street terrain that serves riders of every ability.

The Skate Jam is one of several free events Lenexa Parks & Recreation has lined up for Sept. 19. The city's fall events guide also lists a Fire Department Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Station No. 3 and a Food Truck Frenzy from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Lenexa civic campus.

The City of Lenexa posted details about the Skate Jam on its social media channels Aug. 19. Attendees can enter for a chance to win a free helmet while supplies last. Residents who want to check on weather cancellations the day of the event can call the city's notification line at 913-477-7170.
