The Olathe East Hawks boys soccer team shut out Mill Valley 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 29, picking up their third straight Sunflower League win.

The victory at CBAC Football Stadium moved the Hawks to 5-3-0 overall and 4-2-0 in league play. Olathe East Athletics said on X the team delivered a great team effort in the win. Mill Valley fell to 4-5-0 overall and 2-4-0 in conference play with the loss.

The shutout was the Hawks' second in a week. Olathe East beat Gardner Edgerton 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 22, then topped Lawrence Free State 4-1 on Thursday, Sept. 24, before blanking Mill Valley. The three-game run has produced 10 goals scored and one allowed.

A JV game preceded the varsity match at 5 p.m., according to a gameday alert from Olathe East Athletics. The varsity kickoff followed at 7 p.m.

Season leaders

Forward Ben Pronske leads the Hawks with 12 goals on the season, per KHSSCA statistics as of Wednesday, Sept. 30. Christopher Lima has added two goals and a team-high six assists. Calvin Dutton also has two goals.

Goalkeeper Nate Smith has recorded 11 saves and allowed five goals through six games.

League picture

The Hawks sit in the middle of a competitive Sunflower League race. Olathe Northwest leads the conference at 7-1-0 overall and a perfect 5-0-0 in league play, per KHSSCA standings. Gardner Edgerton and Olathe West also sit above .500 in league play.

Early-season path

Olathe East opened the fall with a 5-0 win over Washington on Friday, Aug. 28. The Hawks' only loss during their recent stretch came Saturday, Sept. 19, a 3-2 defeat to Blue Valley.

Since that loss, Olathe East has outscored opponents 10-1 across three games.
